WiFi in an outback roadhouse
In 2017 we were engaged by the Nullarbor Roadhouse to install a property wide WiFi solution to allow the station to operate handheld scanning guns throughout the Roadhouse. Having only a 3G/4G internet system to work with, we deployed a Ubiquiti Unifi WiFi system through the bar, restaurant, offices and cool rooms.
The Roadhouse required access to WiFi for their cloud based POS system in all areas of the property and our solution not only catered for that using their 3G system but was scalable to account for future technolgies such as 4G, 5G and now they are using Starlink satellite.
After our installation at this property we were then asked to return to 2 more of their properties and repeat the installation process to mirror their Nullarbor Roadhouse setup. We then moved on to install the same solution at their Eucla property named Border Village on the WA/SA Border and then at their Erldunda property on 200km south of Alice Springs on the turn off to Uluru on the Stuart Highway in outback SA.
The overall result left the property with 100% WiFi connectivity and delivered 25+Mb download speeds through a 4G Telstra service. We now understand they have Starlink offerring over 200Mb speeds.
